JR McCollom, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, accidentally began his career in comedy in 1991. Working as a barber in Cleveland, Ohio JR was dared by a group of friends to perform locally at an open mic night. He won by a landslide and the rest is history. Equipped with his father's quick wit and a family history full of truly unbelievable stories, JR honed his storytelling skills in the barber shop by day and kept the crowds rolling in the aisle by night.


He's worked alongside the late Robert Schimmel, George Wallace, D.L. Hugley, Cedric the Entertainer, Luther Vandross, The O'Jays, Frankie Beverly and Maze. Performing in clubs across the country including The Funny Bone, The Improv, Zannies and Hilarities.


With a range of experience--from opening night at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Comedians Against Cancer in Cleveland to working on the TV sitcom For Your Love and movies such as Training Day and Carwash in Los Angeles. In 2003, he began working aboard Carnival Cruise Lines, in George Lopez's Punchliner Comedy Club. He's since been featured on multiple cruise lines sharing his love of laughter with audiences across the globe.
